Back from the Abyss

These past few weeks have been amazingly, terribly busy. I'm actually digging deep into my dissertation (after 18 months of ignoring it). I have a few things to post on this week, but since it's late on Sunday night, here's what I have for you.

Some great video from our United Methodist School in Jackson. It's all over the web. So, I figure since we support the school we should all watch the video. Millsaps is in purple.

So, I'm going to jail . . .

OldJail_run.jpg

On October 25, I'll spend a little time in lockup.

OK, so my time is only an hour. And I hear there are do-nuts involved.

But, I'm being locked up for a good cause--the Muscular Dystrophy Association. I've been asked to help raise money for a great cause--Jerry's Kids. And I need your help. To get out of jail, I need to raise a little money.

If you'd like to see what your gift to the MDA could do for a child or a family, or if you're even remotely interested in making a donation, you can do so through this website:

Thanks for any help you can give.

I love to dream and vision possibilities. It's one of my strengths. I love the process of coming to something new and fantastic. The creative process always excites me.

But, the truth is everyone can dream and vision. It's what comes next that is always the great challenge for any person or group. Can you take the dream and give it feet? Can you put the pieces in place to make the vision a reality?

Tuesday night the Church Conference voted overwhelmingly to move forward with our current building concept. Now we all face the hard (yet exciting) work of making the vision come to life. I believe that we will do this.

The challenge is enough to keep you awake at night. The price-tag is hefty. But here's what I know. The resources we need to build are already with us. It will be a matter of people prayerfully and faithfully giving when the time is right. No one person, no one group will carry this project. It will be a combined effort of our entire Body.

Some will give large amounts; others will give small amounts in relation to the total cost. But everyone will give significantly. I believe that if we approach this with the idea of different gifts, but equal sacrifice, we will be fine.

So, be in prayer. Over the coming months our Capital Campaign team will take shape. They will guide us through the prayerful and very spiritual process of determining how we will each sacrifice.

Thanks for all your faithfulness and prayers so far! We are now moving from dream to reality. And I can't wait to see how it all plays out.

See ya Sunday.

So, What do YOU want to be when you grow up?

Sunday morning, as we talked about dreams, we let some of our children tell us about their dreams. Here's what they had to say:
