Local Missions
Within our Hattiesburg community, Parkway Heights is involved with the following ongoing mission opportunities:
Breadbasket: This ministry of “Interfaith Volunteers” meets emergency food needs of those in our area. Volunteers transport food from the pantry to the pick-up site or take requests by phone.
Edward’s Street Community Center: The Edward’s Street Community Center offers a variety of ministries to the surrounding community, including a food pantry, women’s ministries and scouting programs.
Habitat for Humanity: Parkway Heights is involved in the local Habitat for Humanity chapter which helps provide adequate housing for qualified home owners. We will be a part of the upcoming 10-house build of “Celeste Place” in September. (link)
Meals on Wheels: Volunteers deliver lunch meals on Mondays and Thursdays to those who are unable to cook for themselves.
Woodley Elementary School Partnership: Parkway Heights is partnered with Woodley Elementary School, three blocks away, to help meet the many and varied needs of the school’s special programs, which include: book fairs, math tutoring, RIF reading program, May field day, teacher appreciation events, adopt-a-student, etc.
