About Us
Our Story
Parkway Heights United Methodist Church was formed in 1949 as a church locating away from the city’s hub to its far western edge. Some 75 plus years later the city’s “edge” has moved considerably farther west, though the area surrounding the church and the church itself continues to thrive.
Early on, Parkway Heights was involved in local, national and international outreach. Throughout the decades, the congregation started a mentoring program for school children in the Edwards Street area of Hattiesburg, assisted those in the Navajo/Four Corners area of the United States and supported additional missions around the world, including Honduras and Peru.
Today
Today you'll find the people of Parkway Heights engaging others in many ways - through volunteering at Fieldhouse for the Homeless, delivering Meals on Wheels to our neighbors or going on an mission trip. There's no shortage of opportunities to share God's love through helping others in large or small ways.
From our young children to our senior adults, all ages are involved in our mission to "connect, equip and send faithful disciples of Jesus Christ." As a congregation, we continue to grow and evolve, while offering a place where people can discover and live their new lives in Christ. Come and get to know us! We'll be truly glad to have you!
Parkway Heights Pillars
"The Pillars of Parkway Heights" explores what makes our church tick. These foundational principles - for all generations - articulate our culture and framework for living in the present and moving into the future.
Our A15 Committee crafted these, Church Council affirmed them, and now we pray that the entire congregation will seek to grow more faithful with them as our guideposts for ministry and identity.
