In-Person Worship Has Resumed!

I was glad when they said unto me, "Let us go into the house of the Lord."

We are excited to be back in our building for in-person worship! Our worship service times have changed temporarily due to our continued season dealing with COVID-19. Traditional worship is held at 9 a.m. in the Sanctuary, and our Founders Hall service is at 10:30 a.m. Children's Moments will still be offered at 8:30 a.m. online only.

Before you return to our building, please review our guidelines for worship, which were developed in order to protect one another and our community from this infection. Please note that you will need to RSVP your family for worship, so we can watch our attendance numbers. RSVP for either service here.

For safety reasons, we will NOT have Sunday School or nursery at this time. We will do all we can to make worship welcoming and engaging for all ages!

If you choose not to attend yet for any reason, please know that we will continue to offer online worship via our Facebook page at 10:30 a.m.

We will also offer a parking lot communion service on September 27, at 6:30 p.m. This is a perfect worship opportunity if you have health issues that would keep you from attending worship inside our building. We hope to continue these parking lot services on the first Sunday of each month beginning in October.

Much thought has been given on this temporary schedule. It won't be perfect for everyone; however, we think this gives us the best chance to worship safely for the good of the entire congregation. We appreciate your patience as we move forward. We can't wait to gather, hear the organ, meditate on the beautiful stained glass, clap and sing to great music and hear the sound of children echo in our building again! What a day that will be! We hope to see you soon!

Peace,

Bruce

Welcome!

Welcome to Parkway Heights United Methodist Church in Hattiesburg, Mississippi!

Everything we do at Parkway Heights centers around three ideas that define who we are. Our mission:

1. to INVITE people to worship God and CONNECT them with one another and with Christ;

2. to EQUIP and prepare people for life;

3. to SEND people into a life of mission and ministry God has prepared for them.

Our Story

Parkway Heights United Methodist Church was formed in 1949 as a church locating away from the city’s hub to its far western edge. Some 60 plus years later the city’s “edge” has moved considerably farther west, though the area surrounding the church and the church itself continues to thrive. (We are one block from the University of Southern Mississippi.)

Early on, Parkway Heights was involved in local, national and international missions. In the 1970's, the congregation adopted a Vietnamese family immigrating to the United States, started a mentoring program for school children in the Edwards Street area of Hattiesburg and began a tradition of supporting missions around the world. Throughout the years we have grown into a congregation with a unique calling for mission and outreach.

Today

Today you'll find the people of Parkway Heights engaging others in many ways - through our Woodley Elementary School Partnership, delivering Meals on Wheels to our neighbors or going on mission trips. There's no shortage of opportunities to share God's love through helping others in large or small ways.

From our young children to our senior adults, all ages are involved in our mission to "invite, connect, equip and send faithful disciples of Jesus Christ." As a congregation, we continue to grow and evolve, while offering a place where people can discover and live their new lives in Christ. Come and see what we're about first-hand. We'll be truly glad to have you!
