We know visiting a new place can be overwhelming and maybe a bit intimidating. Here are some questions and answers that might be helpful.
What time are the worship services and what are they like?
The following worship service times are temporary as we continue to face the challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our traditional worship service begins at 9 a.m. and ends around 10 a.m. Our choir sings during this service, which takes place in the Sanctuary.
Our contemporary worship service begins at 10:30 a.m. and ends around 11:30 a.m. This service, which is a little more laid-back, is held in Founders Hall and features our Praise Band.
We also offer our Recovery Ministry service on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. at the Open Door Community.
Do you have Sunday School for all ages? When and where are classes?
We typically offer Sunday School for ages as young as 2 years old; however, Sunday School classes are currently NOT meeting.
In typical (non-pandemic) times, preschool classes are located on the first floor. Elementary classes are located on the second floor, on the east side of the building; and junior high and high school classes are located on the second floor, on the west side of the building. Adult classes are located on the third floor. View the list of adult classes and room numbers
Do you offer a nursery? How do I know my children are safe there?
Our nursery is currently not being offered.
But typically, we offer a nursery (for children ages six weeks through five years old) during worship services, Sunday School and Wednesday night activities. Parkway Heights places the utmost importance on your children's safety and well-being. The nursery check-in station is located on the right side of the Atrium. Visitors and members need to check in their children before taking them to a classroom. View our child protection policy here
May my child come to worship, or do you have children's church?
We do not have a special children's service during worship. Your children are welcome to come to worship with you!
We also offer Children's Time at 10 a.m. on Sunday mornings in the Youth Chapel. Please RSVP to Lesley Ellison if you plan to attend Children's Time.
Do you have a map of your building?
What should I wear to church?
Come as you are! At Parkway Heights, you will see a wide variety of clothing being worn on Sunday mornings! Some may be in their favorite T-shirt and jeans, while others will be in their "Sunday Best." You are welcome to wear whatever makes you comfortable!
Is someone going to show up at my house on Sunday afternoon if I fill out the visitor information?
This is an easy one - no. We will definitely not show up at your house, but you might receive an email or card. That's why we would love to have your contact information. We want to offer our assistance and have you feel welcomed but not overwhelmed.
How often do you serve communion, and who may come forward to receive it?
We typically celebrate communion in both worship services on the first Sunday of each month. At this time, we are holding parking lot communion services every Sunday evening as well.
During non-pandemic times, we also serve communion in our Prayer Room following our early worship service, around 9:30 a.m., for anyone would like to receive it. Everyone who would like to receive communion is invited and welcome to receive it. We also encourage families to take communion together. Many parents get their children from the nursery to have them celebrate communion with them.
Is coffee available?
We are not offering coffee during this time.
Normally, you can find coffee stations in our Atrium (big, open area when you come in main doors), in Founders Hall and on the third floor.
Do you video your worship services?
Our Founders Hall worship service is livestreamed each week on our Facebook page. You can find archived videos of past services on our website. You can also listen to past sermons via our website or iTunes.
