Bible Studies & Small Groups
Christians grow best when they worship together, grow through study and small groups and serve amongst our neighbors. We encourage you to look through this list of small groups and studies and get involved. If you’re already active in worship, let’s take the next step and grow together.
Most of our Bible studies and small groups run for about six weeks in either the fall or spring. Sunday School classes for all ages meet every Sunday at 9:40 a.m. We also encourage everyone to "band together" and become part of a small group. Groups can be as small as three people, and you can meet in person or electronically. Learn more about banding together

STUDY ON 1 JOHN
Led by Keith Keeton
Sundays of August 17 & 24, 5:30 p.m.
Room 315
On the Sundays of August 17 and 24, at 5:30 p.m., Keith Keeton will host a Bible study on a short book of the New Testament. Join him as he examines the book of 1 John and asks what this book means for us today. It gives us a glimpse into the challenging work of community and the quest for authenticity and a reliable witness. What does it mean to be a faithful follower of Jesus Christ in a world with so many competing voices? How can we be perfected in love and refine the image of God inside of each of us? We hope you’ll join us for this brief yet important study of a small book with a big message.
EVERY GOOD ENDEAVOR: CONNECTING YOUR WORK TO GOD'S WORK
Led by Randy Pope
Wednesdays, 6:30 p.m. - October 15, 22, 29 & November 5
Room 303
Is God interested in our daily work — or only in our “church work” or our Bible
study and prayer? Perhaps to our surprise, the first picture we get in the Bible is God going to work as a Creator (Genesis 1), and Jesus says that “My Father is always at his work to
this very day, and I too am working” (John 5:17). And perhaps another surprise: being made “in God’s image” means that we made to join him in his work of creation and redemption —and that work is something God created us to do before the Fall: it’s not a result of sin!
On Four consecutive Wednesday nights — October 15, October 22, October 29 and November 5 — we’ll study together passages in both the Old and New Testaments that make clear that our work — whatever that work may be — is something that God is deeply interested in and that he uses to accomplish his purposes in the world. As background, we’ll read and discuss Tim Keller’s classic book Every Good Endeavor: Connecting Your Work to God’s Work.
PILLARS OF PARKWAY HEIGHTS
Facilitated by Susan Eaton
Sundays, 4 p.m. - October 19, 26 & November 2
Room 311
At the beginning of 2025, we talked about the Pillars of Parkway Heights, the foundational principles of our church. Several of our clergy led small group studies, which dug deeper into these pillars. This fall, Susan Eaton will continue looking into these principles.
SET APART: HOLY HABITS OF PROPHETS & KINGS
Led by Susan Eaton
Mondays, 10 a.m. - September 8-October 13
Room 303
This study of 1 and 2 Kings examines six holy habits of Old Testament prophets and kings who were set apart by their close walk with God. We’ll explore the central stories of these intriguing men of God and some of the practices they observed. As we study, we’ll discover that these practices are not only for prophets and kings but also for each one of us today.
WHY IS THIS HERE?
Led by Keith Keeton
Sundays, 5:30 p.m. - September 7-28
Room 315
Christians often shy away from the Old Testament. That’s a shame, because it is a deep well of wisdom and enlightenment about God’s self-revelation, people’s responses and the structures that help form society.
During September, Keith will lead a survey course that examines the thematic elements that take the Israelites from the Book of Judges through the Babylonian exile. “Why Is This Here?” will not be a deep dive into any one Old Testament book, but it will be an opportunity to see why each book was written and how it propels the narrative of God’s interaction with the Hebrew people. Join Keith on Sunday evenings in hopes that this class can help you see these books and the Biblical characters in a fresh way.
